Over the horizon, there is a little cottage. The smell of freshly brewed coffee stains the air. The chill of winter has crept though the floorboards, up the bedposts, softly frosting my blanket. Teeter, the neighbor's calico, curled against my side, purring softly.
There was a rasp at my window. A cloud of soft orange blocked out the sun. I stood, and donned my robe. Teeter slinked out of bed and out the door. I slipped on my slippers and skanned the window sill. I opened the window, sending a shower of snow and frost onto the curled, fiery hair below me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him, suprised, for it was only 6 in the morning.
"Don't you know? I'm here to have coffee, like every morning." He shook the snow from his head.
"Yes, but at six o'clock? Adam, come inside, it's cold out there," I worried. "It's too cold. You shouldn't risk your health for a bit of coffee." I held my hands out to pull him in though the window.
"Well, it's not just the coffee," he grunted as he pushed off the ground, half on the room, and half out, spilling snow onto the floor. I pulled my robe tighter around me. He pulled his legs over the sill and hopped onto the floor.
"Then what is it?" He looked at me with an expression plastered over his face. Bubbly, and confused, like a lost kitten.
"I've got something to tell you, Alicia, something important. I'm moving down south, to Louisianna. Me, and my family. My dad, he got a job, as a-"
I didn't hear the rest. My heart fell to the floor. He couldn't move- he just couldn't! What would I do without him here? Drinking coffee, petting Teeter, whispering it'll be alright in my ear after I broke out crying again. I'd have to wake up everyday to no knocks at my window, and-, and coffee should never be made again. I don't even like it! But I drank becasue he did. He loved it enough to come here every morning just to have it the way I make it.
He's the one I'd turn to when I feel depressed, and if he'd gone, I-, I don't know what I'll do!
"Alicia, I said, we're leaving tomorrow. Did you hear me?" He shook my shoulder gently.
"Yes, I heard you." I said, and collapsed in his arms. Tears streamed down my eyes, and froze there in the seeminlgy everlasting winter.
He hug hugged me tight, and sank down to the floor, letting me cry on his black coat. Snow blew in from the window, but he just stroked my hair and let me cry in silence.

Seconds past, maybe minutes, maybe hours, I don't know. At one point, he told me to stand up. I did. He put his arm around my back, and led me to the kitchen. He sat me at the table, and began to pour two cups of coffee. One for himself, I assumed, and the other for me.
He pulled the second chair around to my side of the table, and sat down without taking off his coat. Was he going to leave soon? Crazed thoughts began to spin from this one, until I was hyperventalating, thinking my time with him was limited, because it was. After tomorrow, I might never see him again!
The silence was suffocating me. I begged him with my mind to say something, but with my head still in my hands, he couldn't even see the silent plea on my face.
"Alicia, please say something." He said at some point, but I couldn't speak. I feared that if I said anything, he might just disappear.

The anxiety rolled on, fear holding me back, until I couldn't take it any longer. I picked up my head and looked at him for the first time since this morning. What I saw was a young man with orange hair and blue eyes, who I don't want to go a day without.
hmmm I don't know. Started as one thing, ended as another. I got distracted by something towrds/at the end, and I couldn't think about it, so I decided to end it. I might add to it at some point.

hmm.... I'm kinda proud of the way it turned out...

Thank you Vi! I might continue, but I have to have the right train of thought first.
um, I know that her break down sounds awkward, but I don't really write that kind of stuff well, and I'll try to rewrite it.
I have a problem with doing correct tenses, I never know who I want things to sound, but I'll look it over and try to fix it.
:)
